About

Relevant. Provocative. Entertaining.

Sidecountry Theatre wants you to, well, have fun at the theatre.  But along the way, we also hope to inspire you start a conversation with the person seated next to you.

Founded in 2013, Sidecountry Theatre intends to bring a variety of entertainment to the stage, including musicals, and plays that have a message, soul, and edge. In short, relevant, provocative, entertaining theatre. By doing these productions, Sidecountry will help add to, and expand, the opportunities for showcasing the wellspring of talent that exists in the Seattle area.

Our mission. Sidecountry Theatre produces socially relevant, provocative, and entertaining theatre. We strive to be accessible, sustainable, and to expand the theatrical community.

Our Founder and Producing Director

John Sutherland has had a 30-year-long career in business, finance, nonprofit, and creative development and management. He has spent a good deal of his professional life in the fields of academia and recreation and leisure — including creation and production of events such as Slide for Pride and the MS Mountain Bike Festival at Snoqualmie Pass. John founded Sidecountry Theatre in 2013 as part of what he calls his “live the dream” tour.  When not at the theatre, you may find him in Whistler skiing, or riding roller coasters.
